Account Recovery

Updated this week

To ensure seamless recovery of your Send account in the event of device loss, you must set up recovery options in advance.

This guide explains how to recover your account if you lose access to your only device or forget to back up your Send passkey across multiple devices.

To Do: Enable Password Sync

β†’ For Google Account Users:

Enabling sync on your Google account allows access to your Send passkey from any device (Windows, Android, iOS, etc.), as long as you're signed in to the same Google account.

πŸ”Έ Recommend: Use Chrome for the best cross-platform experience.

β†’ For iCloud Users:

Syncing through iCloud only enables passkey access on iOS/macOS devices that are signed in with your Apple ID.

πŸ”Ή Note: Access is limited to Apple ecosystem only.

How to Enable Password Sync

β–Ά Google Account (Using Chrome)

Step 1:

Open Chrome on your main device and tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.

Step 2:

Tap on your google account name

Step 3:

Turn on the password sync and the settings to sync across all devices

- iCloud Keychain

Step 0:

Tap Settings, tap your name, then choose iCloud.

Step 1:

Under Saved to iCloud, tap Passwords. In iOS 17 or earlier, tap Passwords and Keychain.

Step 2:

Tap Sync this [Device] to turn on iCloud Passwords & Keychain. You might be asked for your passcode or Apple Account password.

Recovering or Re-registering a Passkey

If you lose access to your main device do these:

  1. On a new device, log into your Google or iCloud account.

  2. Visit send.app website and click Sign in. (Chome is highly recommended for google account users)

  3. If password sync was enabled, your passkey will be automatically retrieved.

  4. Optionally, you can register a new passkey from the new device (not mandatory if the old one syncs properly).

πŸ’‘ We recommend backing up your Send Acct on at least two devices to avoid account lockout.

Multiple Devices & Passkey Sync

Send supports managing passkeys across multiple devices. Each passkey is unique and tied to your account. You can:

  • Manage multiple active passkeys

  • Remove any previously authorized device

Security Note

  • Passkeys never leave your device.

  • Even Send cannot access or recover your private key.

  • If your device is lost, only your cloud account (Google/iCloud) or linked number can help restore access.
