Setup & Management Of Passkeys

Updated this week

Passkeys are the core of secure, passwordless authentication for your Send account

This guide explains how passkeys are created, where they’re stored, and how to manage them effectively.

How Passkeys Are Created on Send

When you sign up into Send, the app prompts you to register a passkey. The process is seamless and secure:

  1. Device prompts for biometric or screen lock (e.g., Face ID, fingerprint, or PIN).

  2. A public-private key pair is generated.

  3. The private key is securely stored on your device (not with Send).

  4. The public key is registered with Send’s authentication system.

Where Is Your Passkey Stored?

Send uses platform-native credential managers to store your passkey securely. Here's where it's automatically saved:

Devices

Where It's Stored

Android

Google Password Manager (synced via Google Account)

iOS

iCloud Keychain (synced across Apple devices)

Windows

Windows Hello / Microsoft Authenticator (depending on setup)

These systems ensure your passkey is encrypted and accessible only with your biometric or screen lock authentication.

Managing Your Passkey

✅ Do’s:

  • Enable Google/iCloud sync to make your passkey available across devices.

  • Use biometric authentication for enhanced security.

  • Register passkey on multiple devices if possible.

❌ Don’ts:

  • Don’t factory reset your device without syncing/backing up your passkey.

  • Don’t share your device passcode or unlock method with anyone.

  • Don’t assume passkeys automatically transfer to a new device without cloud sync enabled.
